What it is
The Erianux Utility adds two things to a NinjaTrader 8 chart: a tool rail down the left edge and a bar across the top. The rail holds 110 Erianux drawing tools and NinjaTrader’s own 33, grouped into families, each one click away. The bar holds the instrument, your saved intervals, snap, colours and style, snapshots, the account strip and the settings.
It works on your charts as they are. Your workspaces, indicators, templates and data stay where they were. The Utility places no orders, makes no network requests and reads no market data of its own (see What it does not do).
Install and first run
- In NinjaTrader, go to Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On and choose the Erianux Utility zip.
- Restart NinjaTrader when it asks.
- Open a chart. The rail appears on the left edge and the bar across the top.
The Utility is licensed through NinjaTrader’s own vendor licensing, product 2212. Your NinjaTrader account needs a licence for it before it will load.
The welcome card. The first time the Utility opens on a chart, a card offers a guided tour: Quick start — 90 seconds, Show me everything — full tour, or Later. It is shown once per install. Both tours stay in Settings > Help for whenever you want them.
Updating. Import the new version over the old one. Do not remove the old version first: NinjaTrader drops the drawings of a type it cannot load from a workspace that is saved while the add-on is missing.
A mouse helps. Right-drag pans the chart, right-clicking an Erianux drawing opens its own menu, right-clicking an empty chart opens NinjaTrader’s menu, and the wheel zooms. A trackpad works too.
The rail
From the top down:
- Pointer. Click for the arrow or crosshair cursor. Right-click it to put down whatever tool is armed.
- Recent tools. The tools you used last.
- Favourite tools. Every tool you pin sits here. To pin one, click the diamond beside it in a flyout. Unpin all favorites is the last row of each flyout, and it asks for a second click before it acts.
- The families. One cell per family, starting with the Macro kit (marked EM) and ending with NinjaTrader’s own tools (marked N8). Click a cell and its flyout lists the tools inside. Hover a row to see what the tool does and its shortcut, where it has one. Right-click a family cell to arm the last tool you used from it.
- Drawing count. The count of Erianux and hand-drawn drawings on the chart. Drawings owned by indicators are not counted. Click it to open Objects (see Chart controls and Objects).
- Chart controls. The stacked-layers icon under the count (see Chart controls and Objects).
Keep drawing. Normally a tool puts itself down after one drawing. Hold the mouse on a family cell for about 0.7 seconds before letting go and the tool stays armed after each drawing until you press Esc. There is also a Keep drawing switch in Chart controls.
Find a tool. Press / anywhere on the chart and type part of a tool’s name.
You can hide any rail cell in Settings > Drawing rail.
Drawing
Placing. Pick a tool and click on the chart. Most tools take two clicks, one for each end. You can also press, drag and release, as NinjaTrader’s own tools allow. The patterns take one click per pivot and say which pivot they are waiting for. Polygon, polyline, ZigZag and bar set finish on a double-click.
Changing a drawing. Right-click an Erianux drawing and its menu opens beside it. Along the top are quick buttons: Duplicate (arms the same tool with the same settings for your next clicks), Lock, Mirror, Extend (runs the object to the chart edge and back), Alert and Delete. Not every tool has every button. Below them are that drawing’s own settings, then colour and line width, each applied as you click. At the foot:
- Save default style and Reset default style. New drawings of that tool take the saved look.
- Save drawing template… and NinjaTrader properties… open NinjaTrader’s own properties for the drawing.
- Sync / attachment… opens NinjaTrader’s sheet, where you can attach the drawing to all charts.
- Copy to charts… (see Copy to charts).
NinjaTrader’s own drawings, the ones in the N8 family, keep NinjaTrader’s own menu.
Snap. The snap control on the top bar steps through Off, Low, Medium and Strict. Each step reaches further from where you clicked. Within reach, an anchor lands on the nearest open, high, low or close of the bar, and a confirmed swing high or low, or another drawing’s anchor, takes priority over those. Where nothing is within reach, the anchor stays exactly where you clicked, at a whole tick. A short cue on the chart shows what it snapped to. Hold Ctrl to reverse snap for one placement: with snap off, Ctrl snaps; with snap on, Ctrl places freely. Horizontal levels and rays snap their price only and stay where you clicked in time. The Swing strength (bars) setting on each tool says how many bars either side a swing needs.
Anchor to. Each rebuilt tool also has its own Anchor to setting: the exact price, the nearest wick, the nearest body edge, or the close.
Keys while drawing.
- Shift while placing or dragging an end holds a line to 0, 45 or 90 degrees.
- Shift while dragging a whole drawing holds it to one axis.
- Alt while dragging an end keeps the slope.
- Arrow keys nudge the selected drawing one tick up or down, or one bar left or right. Shift+arrow moves it ten. With nothing selected the arrow keys do what NinjaTrader does with them.
- Delete removes the selected drawing through NinjaTrader’s own delete.
Undo and copy. Ctrl+Z undoes, newest first: a deletion (the drawing comes back with its anchors and style), a move or an edit, or a placement. Ctrl+drag leaves the original where it was and drops a copy, as one undo step. Undo does not reverse changes made in a properties dialog.
Labels and readouts. The rebuilt tools share one label model:
- Text (your own), with Text colour, Text size, Text position (left, centre or right) and Text side (above, on or below).
- Price label: a tag at the right end of the line with the line’s price, and your text in front of it.
- Show readout: while selected (the default), always, or never. The readout always shows while you are placing. It can show the move in per cent, ticks, money (one contract, from the instrument’s point value), bars and time.
- Show text and labels turns every readout, tag and text on the object off, and leaves the shape.
- Price marker puts the object’s prices on the price axis, the way NinjaTrader’s own horizontal line does. It is off by default except on the levels that stand for a price.
Per-timeframe visibility. The Macro kit tools, the volume profile, anchored VWAP, Measure, Measured move, Wolfe wave, ZigZag and Brush have a Visibility group in NinjaTrader’s properties: Visible from (minutes) and Visible up to (minutes). A drawing is hidden on intervals outside that range. 0 means no limit on that side. Tick, volume and range charts are never filtered. The other tools do not offer this setting in 2.4.3.
Alerts. The Alert button on a drawing’s menu opens NinjaTrader’s own Alerts window, where you pick the drawing and the condition. It works on drawings that have a price to alert on, such as levels, zones, channels and fans. On a drawing with no price level, the Utility says so.
Style slots. Five saved looks. Select a drawing and press Alt+Shift+1 to 5 to save its look into that slot. Select drawings and press Alt+1 to 5 to apply a slot.
Remember last style per tool. A switch in Chart controls. When it is on, each new drawing takes the look you last gave that tool. It is off by default.
The tool catalogue
155 entries: 110 Erianux tools, 12 stickers and NinjaTrader’s own 33. Tool shortcuts are Alt plus a letter, and they do nothing while you are typing in a text box.

Stickers. Twelve one-click marks: Star, Flag, Warning, Tick, Cross, Bull, Bear, Watch, Fast move, Look here, Stand aside, Review. Each one is a text label carrying a symbol at 20 points. Its menu is the text label’s, so you can retype, recolour or resize it. The symbols are drawn in the drawing’s ink colour, not as colour emoji, because the renderer NinjaTrader ships has no colour-font support.

The top bar
Layouts. Settings > Workspace offers four: Desktop Standard, Desktop Focus, Laptop Standard and Laptop Focus. Desktop shows words and Laptop shows icons. Focus moves the bar into the window’s title row and hides NinjaTrader’s tabs and toolbar. The default is Desktop Standard. When a window is too narrow, items fold one at a time into a More chip at the end of the bar.
From left to right:
- Instrument. The instrument, its contract, the last price and the change. Click it to change the instrument.
- Session countdown. The time left in the session. Settings > Chart layout sets it to follow the chart’s own session, or to show ETH or RTH.
- Intervals. Your saved intervals. Click one to switch the chart. The lit one is the chart’s. [ and ] step to the previous or next one. The Intervals control, or the arrow at the end in Laptop, opens the picker: tick which intervals get a button, or create a new one.
- Snap (see Drawing).
- Colours. Eleven colour swatches in Desktop and seven in Laptop. Click one to colour the selected drawing, right-click one to save the current colour into it, or use the brush to open the colour picker or type a hex value.
- Style. Line width and line style for the selected drawings, or for the next ones if nothing is selected.
- On Screen. Every indicator on the chart. Hide one, pin it to Favorites, open its settings or remove it.
- Favorites. Your pinned indicators. One click adds one to this chart with its saved settings.
- Alert manager and Chart templates (Laptop only). The first opens NinjaTrader’s Alerts window. The second loads a chart template, saves this chart as one, or saves it as the default.
- Snapshot (see Snapshot).
On the right, in a group that always stays on the bar:
- Account columns. The layout icon chooses which figures the account strip shows.
- Connection. Teal when connected, red when not. Click it for the Connections menu. Connecting is one click; disconnecting asks first.
- Account. The chart’s trading account. Click it to switch account. A switch asks first. Chart Trader follows the switch; if the Utility cannot confirm that on screen, it tells you to check the Chart Trader panel before you trade.
- SIM or LIVE. A tag in front of the account name. It says SIM only when the platform itself says the account is simulated, from the provider or the connection’s own demo or simulation setting. It never uses the account’s name, which can be edited. If the platform does not prove the account is simulated, there is no SIM tag and the hover says to treat it as live. On a live account the lock icon is tinted amber.
- Account figures. Any of NinjaTrader’s own 35 account items, in NinjaTrader’s words and order: the connection, the account’s display name and name, cash value, the PnL figures, buying power, the margin figures and so on. The default is connection, account, cash value, realized, unrealized and total PnL. The figures take at most a third of the bar and at most 640 pixels. Anything beyond that sits behind a +N chip, which opens the full list. When the connection drops, the figures show a dash and no old values stay on screen.
- Working. Every open order on this account, across all instruments.
- Chart Trader lock. The padlock disables the Chart Trader panel on this chart so its order buttons cannot be pressed. Click again to unlock. It locks that panel only: the chart’s right-click order menu, NinjaTrader’s order hotkeys and dragging a working order all still work. Chart Trader has to be open on the chart. After a restart, the lock comes back on charts of the same product and account. Rolling to the next contract month keeps it. The saved record is a hash, so no account or symbol name is written to disk.
- Bids. Shows NinjaTrader’s Chart Trader panel in one of three states: Off, Bid window, or Bid window (Hidden).
- Settings (see Settings reference).
Chart controls and Objects
Objects (click the drawing count) lists every drawing on the chart. Each row has Hide, Lock, Delete and Settings. Settings means a tool that takes no mouse on the chart is still fully configurable.
Chart controls (the stacked-layers icon) holds:
- Undo drawing (Ctrl+Z).
- Layers: Drawings visible, Indicators visible, Keep drawing, Remember last style per tool and Follow contract rollover (see Rollover-following).
- Remove from chart: Remove all drawings, Remove all indicators, Remove everything and Remove all drawings on ALL charts. Every one asks for a second click before it acts, and the drawing removals name how many they will take. Locked drawings are left in place.
- By type: show, hide or remove every drawing of one type.
- Groups: up to four named groups. + Add a group makes one, and you rename it where it sits. For each group: visible (Ctrl+Alt+1 to 4), Add selection (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+1 to 4), Empty the group (keeps the drawings), Remove the group’s drawings, and Remove this group (keeps the drawings). Removing a group renumbers the rest.
On a short window, the menu fits the space and scrolls.
Snapshot
The Snapshot menu on the top bar:
- Copy image. The chart onto the clipboard.
- Copy caption line. A line of text describing the chart, ready to paste with the picture.
- Save image. Saves a PNG straight away, with no dialog. It is named by instrument, interval, date and time, for example
NQ_12-26_1m_2026-09-23_132503.png, and never overwrites another file. - Annotate…. Opens the picture in an editor with Arrow, Box, Text, Redact and Blur, then Undo, Copy, Save and Close. Use Redact over an account number. It paints a solid bar. Blur is for looks only, because pixelated digits can sometimes be read back.
- Automatic: Save on entry, Save on exit and Save when an alert fires. All three are off by default. With a switch on, a picture is saved when a position opens or goes flat on any account, of each chart on that instrument, with
_entryor_exitin its name. A reversal is recorded as one. An alert saves the charts of the alert’s own instrument. - Picture: Include the whole window (bar, account, Chart Trader). Off by default, so a snapshot is the chart panels only and safe to post.
- Folder: Choose folder… and Open snapshot folder. The default folder is
Pictures\Erianux.
Files are written in the background, so saving never stalls the chart. Nothing is uploaded.
Copy to charts
Copy to charts… at the foot of a drawing’s menu opens a list of your other charts and tabs, including tabs that are not on screen and charts in other windows. Tick the ones you want and choose Copy to the ticked charts.
- Each copy is a separate drawing. Moving or changing the original later does not change the copies. To have one drawing on every chart, use NinjaTrader’s own Attach to: All charts, through Sync / attachment….
- On the same instrument, the copy lands at exactly the same price and time. The list warns you when a chart is on a different instrument, where the same price may mean nothing.
- Ctrl+Z on a receiving chart removes only that chart’s copy.
- A tab you close leaves the list.
- If there is only one chart open, it says there is nowhere to copy to.
Rollover-following
When a chart moves to the next contract month, your drawings stay at the old contract’s prices. The Utility notices the change within about a second, whether you changed the contract from its instrument plate or from NinjaTrader’s own instrument box.
- Follow contract rollover off (the default). A message says the chart rolled and by how much. Chart Controls gets a row, Shift drawings to the new contract with the amount, which moves them in one step.
- Follow contract rollover on. The drawings move by that amount automatically.
Either way, the amount is NinjaTrader’s own rollover offset from Tools > Instruments, the rollover table for that instrument. Nothing is calculated from prices. Across several contract months the offsets are added together. Where the table has no offset for the contracts, nothing moves, and the log says why. The shift is one undo step. Locked drawings and drawings attached to all charts are left alone. Switching between tabs on different months is not treated as a roll.

What it does not do
- It places no orders. It does not submit, change, cancel or flatten any order, and does not call ATM strategies.
- It makes no network requests. The only program it starts is Windows Explorer, when you open your snapshot folder.
- It reads no market data of its own. No market data or depth subscriptions, no bar requests, no Tick Replay. The drawn volume profile and the volume ruler work from the bars already on the chart.
- The Chart Trader lock is a lock on the panel. Right-click orders, order hotkeys and dragging working orders are NinjaTrader’s own and still work.
- Copy to charts copies. It does not keep drawings in sync.

Troubleshooting and diagnostics
Export diagnostics. Settings > Help > Erianux settings… > Export diagnostics… saves a text file where you choose. It holds software versions, display settings, object counts and recent error codes. It does not hold account details, credentials, trading data or raw logs, and nothing is sent automatically. Attach it to your support request.
Where the Utility keeps its files. Documents\NinjaTrader 8\Erianux\: your preferences (favourites, groups, bar layout, style slots, snapshot switches) and the Utility’s own log.
Nothing happens when I press a tool key. Click the chart first, so it has keyboard focus. Tool keys do nothing while a text box has focus.
A drawing I remember is missing on this interval. Check its Visible from / up to (minutes) settings (see Drawing).
My drawings sit at the wrong prices after a contract roll. Open Chart controls and use Shift drawings to…, or turn on Follow contract rollover for next time (see Rollover-following).
The account strip says LIVE on an account I know is simulated. The tag only reads SIM when the platform says so. Paste the diagnostics export into your support request so the connection’s details can be checked.
